Description
Departing at 09:00 from Kinlay Hostel, your local driver-guide will lead you along the Wild Atlantic Way through the Burren's unique limestone landscape. The route passes picturesque villages including Clarenbridge, Kilcolgan, Ballindereen, Kinvara, and Ballyvaughan, with views of medieval ruins, tower houses, churches, dry stone walls, and local wildlife.
Turning south at Ballyvaughan, the tour continues along the Clare coast via Black Head, Fanore Strand, and Ballyreen cliffs, showcasing the rugged Atlantic coastline. Arriving in Doolin, you take the ferry to Inisheer, the closest of the three Gaeltacht Aran Islands.
During the 30-minute crossing, watch for occasional bottlenose dolphins near the ferry. On Inisheer, explore ancient castles, churches, narrow lanes bordered by stone walls, and white sand beaches. You can hire a bicycle or pony and trap to tour the island independently.
The return ferry includes a guided scenic cruise beneath the Cliffs of Moher, revealing panoramic views of the 214-metre high, 8-kilometre long cliffs. Back in Doolin, the coach takes you to the Cliffs of Moher visitor centre, Atlantic Edge, for a minimum one-hour stop. Admission to the visitor centre and cliffs is included.
The journey back to Galway passes Lisdoonvarna, known for its matchmaking festival in September, and crosses the Burren's distinctive limestone karst. The tour runs from March to 31 October with a group size of 1 to 50 people.
