Choose from three routes to Inis Cealtra, each offering a distinct cycling experience through County Clare's landscapes.

The easy route starts at Tuamgraney, cycling along quiet back roads to Mountshannon, where you board a boat to the island. This route suits all abilities.

The moderate route begins in Killaloe, following a dedicated cycle path along Lough Derg’s shore to Tuamgraney, then continues as the easy route to Mountshannon.

The hard route starts in Tuamgraney and follows the East Clare Way to Mountshannon, including a 5km gravel section. This route is not recommended for beginners or those unfamiliar with off-road cycling.

All tour versions include visits to Tuamgraney and Scariff, historic market towns. Tuamgraney features St Cronin's Church, rebuilt by Brian Boru in the 11th century. Scariff was a former trading port and milling centre.

A boat operated by Gerard Madden of Holy Island Tours carries you from Mountshannon to Inis Cealtra. The boat cost is included in the tour price and operates seasonally from March to October.

On arrival, you have one hour to explore the two-acre island on foot, visiting historic buildings and enjoying lakeshore views.
