Carrigaholt Sea Angling Centre
Countyclare
Based in the fishing village of Carrigaholt, the Carrigaholt Sea Angling Centre is there to help you catch a wide range of fish types in some of the best areas, where the Shannon estuary meets the rich fishing grounds of Ireland’s southwest coast. Enjoy some fishing in the sheltered waters of the Shannon Estuary or head west to the Atlantic Ocean with your skipper, Luke Aston.
The centre can offer great fishing packages for up to 8 fishermen at a time, with their purpose-built Lochin 366 and accommodation in the Glencarrig Guest House. They can also arrange to have you picked up from Shannon Airport, which is about one and half hours away from the fishing village.
On a trip to the Shannon estuary, you can expect your catch to include ray, conger, bass, dogfish and tope.
On trips out past Loophead, fish include cod, pollock, haddock, whiting, hake, ray and of course lots of mackerel. This can in turn be used as bait for blue shark and large skate amongst others.
Owned and run by Mary and Luke Aston, during your stay you will be taken care of by Mary in the guesthouse, whilst Luke takes care of the fishing. Luke has been fishing all his life and skippered his 60-foot commercial fishing boat the Clare Dragoon for 9 years.
