Bunratty

Bunratty village is conveniently located close to Shannon Airport and on the main road linking Ennis town with Limerick City. It is just 25km from Ennis and 19km from Limerick city both on the N18.

The most outstanding feature of the area is without doubt the world-famous Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. Built in 1425 and restored in 1954, the castle is the most complete medieval fortress in Ireland. Explore this authentic castle and its huge array of over 450 items of medieval furniture and artifacts that form part of the Bunratty Collection. You can also take part in the wonderful medieval banquets that are held in the castle.

Bunratty Castle is set amongst Bunratty Folk Park – a collection of houses and cottages that recreate life in 19th century Ireland.  Set over 26 acres, there are over 30 buildings including a school, the local pub, a hardware shop and the post office.While in the Folk Park, visit the Bunratty Walled Garden, which is modeled on the original Regency-period garden that supplied Bunratty House with flowers, fruit and vegetables.

Bunratty Village is also home to the Blarney Woolen Mills (a shoppers paradise and perfect place to get those Irish souvenirs!), the Bunratty Winery, the world famous Durty Nelly's Pub and The Creamery Bar. There are many other excellent restaurants guest houses and hotels in the region.
