Ennistymon

Ennistymon is located a few miles from the Atlantic Coast, near Lahinch and close to Liscannor, Cliffs of Moher and Doolin. Ennistymon is also close to the Burren so it is ideally located to visit the surrounding area. Being the largest town in North Clare it is always busy and has a lot to offer the visitor.

The beautiful River Inagh meanders through the town giving it a romantic feeling - particularly at the spot where it cascades over a ridge of rocks near the Falls Hotel, which was the original residence of the McNamara family.


You can do some salmon fishing below the cascades and trout fishing above it. Located between Ennistymon and Lahinch is the Gorta Mor Memorial which commemorates the victims of the Great Famine. It is located across from an old workhouse and mass grave on the main road.


If you plan to visit North Clare or Lahinch, chances are your journey will take you through Ennistymon. Allow yourself enough time to stop and stroll around this country town.
You will get plenty of banter from the locals and there are many places to have a bite to eat or enjoy a beer. There are also many activities such as horse riding and fishing to help you pass the time away.
