The Shannon Estuary hugs the South Clare coast and offers a range of activities and sights to see. Visit the resident pod of bottlenose dolphins, try some angling in the sheltered waters or go bird watching. You can cross the Shannon Estuary via the Killimer to Tarbert (County Kerry) ferry. Killimer is located close to Kilrush.
Ennis is the main town of County Clare. With narrow side streets and wonderful boutiques and local shops to be found, Ennis also has Clare's main GAA ground - Cusack Park and numerous historically significant monuments.
For a fine example of a restored castle, visit the five-star Dromoland Castle and Golf Course, located near the townland of Newmarket-on-Fergus and just minutes from Ennis.
Ireland's newest town, Shannon is the closest town to Shannon International Airport and Shannon Free Zone. Nearby Bunratty Castle and Folkpark in Bunratty Village offers visitors an opportunity to step back in time. The surrounding village has souvenir shops and restaurants to help bring you back to the modern day after your trip.
