South Western Ireland: 4 Days from Galway to Kerry
53 ReviewsSpend 4 enjoyable days in the southwest of Ireland. Take in amazing Connemara, Dingle Peninsula, and Cliffs of Moher; visit traditional Irish villages, and kiss the Blarney Stone.
Keane’s Oyster Bar is a little fragment of Irish history. Owned by the Keane family since 1641 it has been passed down the generations, starting as a shop it has transformed over time into a pub, restaurant and function venue. It now can also house guests in their beautiful accommodation wing. This is a local favourite and Keane’s Oyster Bar invites tourists to join them.
The restaurant is all about seafood, and particularly oysters. The oysters that are served in the restaurant are all hand, harvested by owner Michael Keane. They are sourced fresh from his own oyster beds in the Shannon estuary. You cannot ask for more local than that.
If you fancy something really special then the ‘Arctic Charr’ is the recommended choice. This sweet tasting fish, similar to trout or halibut, is only available in Keanes’ Oyster Bar. It is a major hit because of its varied health properties and environmental sustainability. So for all fish fans this should definitely be one to try whilst you are visiting.
