Check in at reception. Meet Mary in the Burren Botany Bubble for a 15 minute introduction to Burren Botany. Enjoy The Living Collection of Burren Flora that showcases our native plants in their natural habitat and also provides a seed collecting site for The National Native Seed Bank in partnership with the National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin, Dublin. Learn how The Burren was formed 350 million years ago and how ice ages, tectonic shift, climate and farming practices shaped the world famous botany in the region. Meet plants in season in the living collection ie. Bee Orchids, Frog Orchids, O Kelly Orchids, Spring Gentians, Bloody Cranesbill, Mountain Avens. Learn how each plant has their own unique and fascinating adaptations for example The Bee Orchid that mimics the female bee in shape and smell to attract male bees to pollinate the species. Discover the ancient Ogham tree language. Armed with your new found knowlege explore the integral habitats with our beautiful full colour guide book (self guided) and discover The WildFlower Meadow, The Disappearing Lake (A natural phenomena- a three acre fresh water Turlought that appears every 12 hours) Shattered Limestone Pavement and Fairy Woodland. Identify plants you have learnt about. (For exceptionally keen botanists ask to borrow The WildFlowers of Ireland book, to take with you to make sure you don't miss anything) Find our art installation discovery points with audio interpretation in 5 languages (French, Spanish, German, Irish and English).- the gigantic wire Dragonfly sculpture, The Copper Ladies Tresses Orchid and the Limestone Badger. Learn about our rewilded area and the native wildlife we protect. Meet and feed our friendly farm pets - sheep, goats, pigs, and even our rescued Llama Frank! Relax in the cafe and browse the local gifts and artworks by our resident wildlife artist. Check out our onsite off grid accommodation. Take your guide book to further explore the Burren area with routes to hikes and free sites to visit. Important Information

  • The Burren Bubble and cafe are fully accessible but the walks are not suitable for wheelchairs. Wheelchair users will easily get to the animal area, the outside living collection of flora in the Waterfall garden and the Botany Bubble. Buggy's and wheelchairs cannot get into the Fairy Woodland area
