Countyclare
Stocking and smoking the finest local ingredients, the Burren Smokehouse is a family-run business set up in 1989.
Smoked fish is a local delicacy and you can also get Irish produced foods and gifts.
The Visitors Centre was established in 1995 and welcomes over 30,000 visitors from all over the world each year. Tasting the famous Burren smoked salmon is a must on a visit.
At the visitor centre, you can see the first kiln used there for smoking the fish.
The gourmet shop stocks smoked organic salmon, smoked mackerel and trout. Only fish caught or grown in Ireland are used.
Visitors can also purchase Irish craft products, gifts, beauty products and clothes, and delicacies like jams, chocolates, biscuits, fruit wine from County Clare, mead, seaweed products, seasonings, honey and locally produced dairy, and goat and sheep cheese specialties.
