Surfing in County Clare
Surfing has grown hugely in popularity in Clare over the last 5 years. There are many schools and most of them are run from colourful vans and you will see the flags, surf boards and wet suits on display at all the main beaches.
Lahinch in North Clare has become a mecca for surfers and they can be found there from Jan. to Dec. The Atlantic offers some of the best surfing in the country and West Clare offers some of the most challenging waves in the world.Top professionals travel to Ireland to take on Eileen's off the Cliffs of Moher and this wave has to be seen to be believed. Surfers travel out to the wave by jet ski and it is not for the feint hearted or the beginner. Doolin is also popular with surfers and some very strong waves get up here.
