Dolphin Discovery
Countyclare
Take a splash on the wild side and visit the Shannon Estuary's resident pod of over 100 bottlenose dolphins with Dolphin Discovery.
It is an ideal boat trip for anyone with an interest in nature. Observe these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat and take in the stunning scenery and islands that form part of the Shannon Estuary landscape.
Of course huge effort is placed on protecting the dolphins and their habitat and the company works closely with the Shannon Dolphin & Wildlife Foundation.
Cruises depart from the Kilrush marina on board the Dolphin Discovery, sailing out through the lock gates and onto the estuary to spot the area's only pod of dolphins, which happens on over 98 per cent of cruises. The trip takes about two hours and passes the islands of Hog and Scattery.
With the town situated at the end of the estuary, Kilrush is an ideal location to take a dolphin watching trip from. Even for those with limited mobility or not the best sea legs, getting on and off the boats is safe and easy.
