East Clare Heritage Centre

Countyclare

Sights

This culturally significant information centre is based at the 10th century St. Cronan’s Church in Tuamgraney and offers any visitors unrivalled information on East Clare’s historic past. Those working at the centre have a keen interest in local history and publications, researching into genealogies and producing articles for the benefit of the public. There is also an on-site museum, displaying artefacts from over the centuries, including pottery, bikes and a mysterious stone head that was extracted not too far from the church. Finally, visitors can find a gift shop on the premises, selling postcards, publications from local authors (mostly books covering the grand history of the church) and other useful guides.

If you find yourself in the area, be sure to stop by and find out more about the fascinating Church – including some breath taking stain glass windows – and the surrounding area of Shannon from the local experts.

Opening times: Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm.
