Things To Do in County Clare

Count on County Clare to keep you busy, no matter what you like. From wandering the wild trails of the Burren to watching the waves crash at Fanore beach, there’s something that sticks with you. And don’t just scratch the surface at the Cliffs of Moher; try the less-crowded pathways to spot native flora and maybe a quiet moment with the Atlantic breeze.

Boat trips out from Doolin are a proper treat , if you’re lucky, you might see seals or even dolphins playing in the waves. The ferry ride to the Aran Islands is another day well spent, best done early to have time for a bike ride or a stroll around Inisheer. For a bit of history and local life, drop into pubs around Ennis. They can be lively any night but especially on weekends with traditional music sessions that feel like you’ve been invited to a family gathering.

One tip: If you want to avoid the summer crowds at the cliffs, head out in late afternoon or on a drizzly day. The moody skies can make the views even more dramatic. And if you’re here in autumn, don’t miss the chance to wander the quiet lanes near Lisdoonvarna, where the landscape changes with the season and the air feels fresher than anywhere else around.
